Health office updates
School year 2023-2024
- Welcome! Please remember to call the safe to school number when your child is absent. That number is 508-946-8872 for the MECC only. You can leave a message at any time. Please give the reason for your child's absence. I listen to the messages in the morning.
- All updated/5 year physicals must be sent to the nurse! Your child's health record will be complete for kindergarten once they are submitted. Please make sure the 5 year mandatory vision screening with stereopsis is included on the physical exam. Nurse's fax number 508-946-8862. You can also scan it as a PDF and email it to me at lori_johnson@middleboro.k12.ma.us. I can not accept pictures or screen shots of the physical. Please make sure it is the actual physical that you are submitting. It CAN NOT be a Visit summary or Health summary or progress note. It must be signed by the provider and includes height, weight, BP, allergies, medical conditions, immunizations, lead level and vision screening. Usually 1-3 pages.
-
The nurse will be doing periodic head checks all year long for head lice. Please check your child's head if they are itching frequently. You can refer to health services on www.middleboro.k12.ma.us for information or you can call the nurse with questions.
-
Please send in extra clothes for your child. Many children are nervous and wait too long to go to the bathroom.
- Reminder: Your child must be home for 24 hours after the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea, with or without a temp! Also, temperature free (< 100.0) for 24 hours without the use of medication before they can return to school! That will help stop the spread of germs! Please refer to CDC, the local Board of Health and the Middleborough Public Schools Return to School Plan (found on the district's website) for guidance if your child is diagnosed with Covid.
- Please dress your child appropriately for the weather.
- Please reinforce with your child not to share/take food or snacks from other children. Many children have allergies and we want to keep all our children safe. We encourage healthy snacks!!
-
Please return borrowed clothes to the nurse. Donations of stretch waist pants and underwear are always welcomed!
-
Please remind your child that it is very important to wear their helmet EVERY TIME they ride their bike, use their scooter, skateboard, rollerblades... If you are 16 years old or younger, you must wear a helmet that meets ANSI requirements on any bike, anywhere, at all times.
