Mrs. Katie Iveson

Hello,

My name is Katie Iveson and I am the music and computer teacher at the Memorial Early Childhood Center. I have been teaching music in the Middleboro Elementary Schools since 2003 at the MECC, HBB and MKG.  I have also had the pleasure of teaching at two different pre-schools, a summer camp and a residential school for students with various learning disabilities.

My love of music started very young. One of my first memories as a toddler is sitting in a rocking chair with my mother as she sang lullabies and nursery rhymes.  As I grew up, I gravitated toward lots of musical activities, including church choir, marching band, musical plays and many private lessons in guitar, keyboard, trumpet and voice.  When I decided to make music education my career, I went to Anna Maria College, where I learned how to be a teacher and music therapist  Later, I continued my education at Bridgewater State University where I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching.  Along the way, I added a teaching license in Instructional Technology.  Currently, I teach Pre-K and K music at the MECC and Introduction to Computer Technology classes to Kindergarten, but I have instructed students for many years at HBB and MKG elementary schools in Midleboro Public Schools in general, vocal and instrumental music.  This year I am happy to announce that I have started my 20th year teaching in MPS.

In my home life, I"ve been happily married for many years and I am the mom of one super awesome middle schooler. I have a fluffly calico kitty, 2 parakeets and a bunch of tropical fish.  I enjoy singing in my church choir, camping and volunteering at my son's school and also scouting with the BSA.  I also like video games with my Playstation and XBOX, movies, listening to music, being in nature and drinking coffee!

As you can see, I enjoy being a life -long learner and doing a lot of different activities! Moreover, I love working with children and being part of the joy they bring to my classroom each and every day!

I look forward to meeting all of your smiling faces, as we enjoy a fun-filled year of singing, dancing, and playing instruments during music.  I'm also eager to begin teaching you how to do many new things on the computer.  Best of luck for a great year of Pre- K or Kindergarten!

Love Mrs. Iveson
